This project involved the refurbishment and extension of an existing house.
The existing house was located on a very sensitive elevated site overlooking the Lough Derg.
The proposed extension was devised to respect the character of the existing house, and ensure it nestled in a subtle fashion alongside the original buildings on the site.
The aesthetic is very paired back and simple.
The construction is a hybrid of timber-frame and masonry retained walls.
Externally the house combines local slate stone with areas of cedar and zinc cladding.
The proposed works are due for completion in 2014.
