This project involved the refurbishment and extension of an existing house.
The existing house was located on a very sensitive elevated site overlooking the Lough Derg.
The design proposal was devised to ensure the completed dwelling looked as if it were a new dwelling, with no hint of the original house being visible.
The aesthetic is very paired back and simple.
The construction is a timber-frame.
The dwelling should achieve an A3 rating when complete.
The house employs heat recovery system to minimise the heat load.
Externally the house combines a white acrylic render with zinc cladding and fibre cement roof cladding.
The house is due for completion in 2014.
